Leading global manufacturer holds meaningful meetings in Turkey

The aim

An international manufacturing company approached Hands Up Incentives to create a four day program that would allow them to combine their meeting schedule with activities and a meaningful community development project.

The challenge

With 58 participants arriving from 12 different countries, the challenge was to find a central destination that could satisfy the three main needs:

  1. An inspiring community project that would allow the employees to make a difference in a short time and interact with the local community;
  2. The time given to the project would need to fit around the meeting schedule;
  3. A venue with meeting facilities that fit within the budget and was accessible from multiple countries.

The plan

After choosing from two destinations in Turkey, an itinerary was developed, with each day anchored by meetings.

A welcome dinner at traditional restaurant, with folkloric dancers and musicians gave everyone a taste of the culture. An excursion to some historical sights and a boat trip with snorkeling in the Aegean Sea were other activities.
One afternoon the employees were taken to a primary school where 56 children aged 5-7 are crammed into one classroom.

Working alongside the children and some parents, the volunteers helped to erect a playground, paint a mural and played games (egg and spoon race, musical chairs, tug of war) with the children.

Participants were rotated through groups, so that everyone would have a taste for all facets of the project.

The day concluded with a soccer match and a final handover of the mural and playground to the school.

The result

Helping at a school met with the client’s brand values of making school stationery products, so it was a perfect fit.

The Global Program Director rated the time helping at the school “the best team building activity we have ever done”, and they have already confirmed that next year’s trip will also include a giving back component.
